On February 20 Ambassador Alan Eastham presented two successful visa applicants with the first visas to be printed in Congo-B since 1997

The two recipients are:

Leon Kassongo Moukendi , a law student at the Marien Ngouabi Unviversity.  Leon has been chosen to attend a month-long program in Washington D.C. to present information about the volunteer project he has developed and carried out in Brazzaville. The workshop will honor young volunteers from all over Africa and provide them information that will help them increase their volunteer activities in their home countries.  This was a very competitive program and Leon was chosen from a pool of many applicants.

Madame Louise Alphonsine Thérèse Botaka, Directeur Générale de la Promotion de la Femme, will be attending the 53rd session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women in New York City. She will part of a delegation led by the Minister de la promotion de la Femme et de l'Intégration de la Femme au Développement.

In her remarks after accepting the visa, Mme Batoka thanked the Ambassador and said she was honored to accept this on the part of women in the Congo.  Ambassador Eastham responded that it was a proud day for the Embassy also and signified yet another step in firming up Congo-U.S. relations.

Computer specialists and new consular officers have worked diligently these past few weeks to implement the new consular systems. The Consular section will be open for visa requests three days each week and all applications and appointments must be made on line.  To get information about how to apply visit the visa section here
