NBA and WNBA stars visited Brazzaville from August 25 to August 31, 2011.
Bo Outlaw and Edna Campbell conducted five basketball clinics attended by approximately 250 male and female Congolese youth from 12 to 25 years old. Participants from 10 local basketball teams benefitted from the sports envoys basketball techniques and life lessons such as teamwork, confidence, and passion. Bo and Edna also visited Sainte-Claire orphanage where they interacted with children and helped clean and paint the orphanage. Furthermore, the envoys participated in a drinkable water distribution activity in a neighborhood comprising hundreds of families deprived of water.
This varied array of outreach activities aligns with the U.S. Department of State commitment to use sports as a means to build strong people-to-people connections and empower young people worldwide.
